Meet Eammon - a member of our Great North Run Team 2021
What does Sight Support HEY mean to you and why did you decide to run for us?
I’ve always been impressed with the work Sight Support HEY does and the difference the charity makes to people’s lives in supporting them to adapt to a life with sight-loss and then go on to fulfill their ambitions. I work for a national Sight Loss charity so it’s nice to be able to do something for a local organisation.
Do you run regularly or is this a new challenge for you?
I do run regularly, but not as much as I’d like. Preparing for the great North Run has given me the excuse I need to go further.
Do you have a favourite running playlist?
I like Daisies of the Galaxy by Eels and anything by ‘Massive attack’!
Do you have any training tips for anyone else running the Great North Run?
It’s not about speed, it’s about distance. Find your own rhythm and pace and stick to it and you’ll be amazed how far you can go. And don’t forget to warm up before and warm down after any run.
How are you keeping motivated?
I ran the Great North Run in 2019 and just the thought of doing it again is enough to keep me going. It was an amazing experience to be with so many other people all with different stories and raising money and awareness for causes close to their heart.
