Sight Support Hull & East Yorkshire Trustee Carol Winter completed her sixth Great North Run in September and along with her friend Vicky Johnson raised £1,105 to help support the charity’s services for local people with sight loss.

Carol completed this year's race following a hip replacement and was supported by Vicky who was competing in the half marathon in Newcastle for the first time on September 8th.

Carol has been a supporter of the charity for twenty six years and was a recently shortlisted for the Trustee Award at the Proud to BEE Volunteer Awards organised by the Smile Foundation.

Over this period Carol has organised numerous fundraising events and activities and raised thousands of pounds to support the charity's work.

Sandra Ackroyd, Chief Executive of Sight Support HEY was presented with the cheque at Hull City’s training ground at Millhouse Woods Lane, Cottingham by Carol, Vicky and Robbie McKenzie the locally born Hull City FC central defender; she said “Carol and Vicky have done amazing with this great achievement. Carol has done so much fund raising for us over the years, we can’t thank her enough. All funds go towards helping to ensure that people with sight loss in the Hull & East Riding area enjoy the same opportunities and quality of life as those who are fully sighted”

Sight Support HEY would like to thank Carol Winter and Vicky Johnson, both long standing Hull City Supporters, for raising this money and Hull City FC for offering the opportunity to present the cheque at the training ground.
