Hi everybody, I’m Sandra Ackroyd, Chief Executive at Sight Support Hull and East Yorkshire.

I wanted to send a personal message this Christmas to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you that has shown us your support throughout this challenging year. It’s been a challenging and frustrating year for everybody with a lot of uncertainty around all of us throughout the pandemic.

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to provide the services we would normally provide to our visually impaired service users due to the various restrictions of the pandemic, however, we’ve adapted. We’ve provided virtual services. We’ve made thousands of welfare calls. We’ve provided virtual book clubs. We’ve introduced visually impaired people to Zoom, like we’ve all had to get used to. We’ve also done visual arts groups, we’ve done virtual speaker sessions, and we've really focussed on keeping physical and mental wellbeing good for people with visual impairments, and we couldn’t do this without your support.

As always, our fundraisers and our volunteers have been amazing. You’ve adapted, been resourceful. We’ve had people doing online events, online fundraising, and for that we can’t thank you enough. It really is valued.

So from all of us here, I hope you have a very safe and happy Christmas whatever you are doing and let’s hope that 2021 is a safe and happy one for all of us.

Thank you everyone. Merry Christmas.
