Last week Sight Support HEY held its fourth SocialEYES annual awards evening to celebrate a year of fun and friendship across all aspects of our leisure and activity programme.

Joined on the night by representatives from our partner organisations Fitmums and Friends and Linda Clark from the National Lottery Community Fund, the evening was another highly enjoyable, if at times emotional night.

Guests enjoyed a night at the races along with a pie and pea supper before the awards were presented.

This year saw the presentation of the inaugural Andy Brown Award given in memory of Sight Support HEY’s former SocialEYES Coordinator who passed away unexpectedly just over a year ago. This top award went to Karen and Chris Dunderdale who have gone above and beyond to support the programme over the last twelve months.

The Laurie Cox Award is given in memory of an original member of the SocialEYES programme who epitomised the heart and soul of the programme with his enthusiasm and was presented to Donna Cooper.

The Leaps and Bounds Award was presented to Mike Barker in recognition of the progress he has made in the last year. Mike returned to running and the athletics track after a twenty year gap thanks to our partnership with, and the support of, Fitmums and Friends.

Other award winners included:

Helping Hands: Diane & Steve Coveney

Fitmum of the Year: Gillian Arnold

Music Award: Sheila Dent

Artistic Award: Doris Wiles

Ten Pin Bowling Award: Mike Smith

Sight Support would like to congratulate all our very worthy award winners and thank everyone who attended or contributed to making the evening such a huge success.
