Tina Whitely (pictured above) sees first-hand on a daily basis the impact a diagnosis of sight loss can have on someone which probably explains why she is so passionate about raising funds for her local sight loss charity; Sight Support Hull and East Yorkshire.

Tina, who works at the Eye Clinic at Hull Royal Infirmary, has been raising funds for the charity for many years through her book stall and regular raffles.

This year, with the support of her colleagues at the eye hospital helping her to sell raffle tickets, as well as donations from patients, Tina has raised another fantastic £1,300.

Sight Support HEY’s Fundraising Manager Angela Gregory says: “We are so grateful for Tina’s incredible support and would like to say a huge thank you to both Tina as well as staff and patients at the eye hospital, who have supported her fundraising efforts. As the only sight loss charity which exclusively supports people in Hull and East Yorkshire, it is always fantastic to receive such amazing support within the local community.”

“The money raised will help us to provide information and emotional support through our experienced staff, resource centre, booklets, support groups and information sessions as well as helping us to continue to provide leisure and social opportunities to aid mental health and wellbeing so it really will make a difference to local people who are blind or partially sighted.”
