Sight Support HEY is hoping to benefit from a new link with locally based, global company Smith & Nephew.

The company has set an ambitious target to contribute 1 million volunteer hours to local communities over the next ten years and the charity recently attended a special Volunteer Fayre to promote volunteering opportunities to staff at Smith & Nephew’s operations centre in Hull.

“We are extremely grateful for the support we receive from our volunteers,” says Marketing Manager, Angela Gregory. “They kindly give their time to help us both in delivering our services and in raising the vital funds needed to continue our work. As we develop new services and support even more visually impaired people, our need for volunteers grows and so we very much welcome the opportunity to work with employees at Smith and Nephew.”

Sight Support HEY has a wide range of volunteering opportunities that companies and their employees can get involved in. These can:

  • Utilise employee’s core skills as well as developing new ones
  • Help with team building, staff morale, motivation, commitment and performance
  • Improve your company’s image and profile in the community
  • Provide further insight into the work of the charity.

“We are constantly on the lookout for businesses of all sizes that share our passion to improve the lives of local blind and partially sighted people,” says Volunteer Coordinator,Anna Zacharias. “We aim to work with local companies and organisations to deliver charitable partnerships that truly change lives while also engaging their staff and customers.”

Sight Support would love to hear from businesses in the area who are looking for a charity to support through corporate sponsorship or corporate volunteering. The charity can offer a package of publicity in return and is always happy to discuss any opportunities in person.
