We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the delivery of our children's activity sessions.
Responsibilities:
- To engage with young people and their families in a positive manner, allowing them to participate fully in a range of activities
- To empower children & young people and improve their self confidence
- To help create a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- To adhere to safeguarding & health and safety policies and report any concerns immediately to a member of staff
Qualities and skills we are looking for:
- A friendly, confident and approachable manner with an enthusiasm for encouraing children to engage in activities
- An ability to encourage and inspire enthusiasm in children between the ages of 6 and 16, with varying abilities
- To be reliable and have a genuine interest in & the desire to make a difference to the lives of visually impaired children
- Good people and communication skills, particularly verbal
- The ability to independently facilitate small group and 1-to-1 practises, as directed by the session leader
- Be able to demonstrate good initiative & adapt to situations whilst recognising health and safety risks
- Engage positively with coaches, feeding back any ideas or adaptions they feel are needed
- It is desirable, but not essential, that you possess a level 1 coaching certificate or higher in any sporting discipline
Support provided to you:
- Visual Impairment Awareness training will be provided and take place at Sight Support HEY.
- Safeguarding training
- Health and Safety training
- Other training as identified
- Regular newsletters, updates and news from the Volunteer Coordinator at Sight Support HEY
- Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses such as mileage or public transport costs (where pre-approved)
