Sight Support Hull & East Yorkshire is excited that one of its dedicated team of staff will be a guest at next month’s coronation.
The coronation invites are out — and one local charity worker couldn’t be happier.
Alison Stannard who is the Operations Manager at local sight loss charity Sight Support was delighted and surprised when she received an invitation from Buckingham Palace, asking her to be a guest at the upcoming coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
“I received an email a few weeks ago so I knew it was coming, but I was blown away by the beauty of the invitation when it arrived — it’s stunning!” said Alison “The idea of being there in person is just extraordinary — it’s a moment in history, something we haven’t seen for 70 years!”
Alison became a British Empire Medal recipient, an honour she received in 2021 as a result of her tireless work with visually impaired community amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sight Support will be hosting a series of special Coronation tea parties in the build up to the big day for its service users and so the whole charity is getting excited about Alison’s brush with royalty.
ON what she is most looking forward to, Alison says: “I’ve never been to Westminster Abbey before so I’m really looking forward to finally seeing inside it. As well as trying to spot members of the royal family of course.”
