We know that sight loss can have a devastating impact on both you and your loved ones.
Our Community Advice Officers (CAO’s) can visit people in the comfort of their own homes to offer individualised support and advice whether the individual is newly diagnosed or an existing service user who requires assistance.
They can provide emotional and practical support to help people to live a more independent lifestyle including:
- • Assistance and support with benefit applications
- • Information and advice on low vision equipment
- • Help to identify discounts and concessions which may be available to people with sight loss
- • Providing an opportunity to talk to someone about the emotional impact of living with sight loss
They can also refer people to other services as appropriate and discuss support available from the local authority and other organisations.
Through our Community Advice Officers we aim to enable each visually impaired person to live as full and independent a life as possible.
We have found that sometimes, it only takes a small idea to make a big difference to someone’s life!
