Gifts in Wills

Making a will is perhaps one of the most important things you will ever do.

It is the only way to be sure that your family, friends, favourite charities and others are provided for as you wish after your death.

A gift to Sight Support HEY in your will is an incredible way to support visually impaired people and make a lasting difference to the future of blind and partially sighted people in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Free will-writing service

We have teamed up with Bequeathed to offer a free, simple and convenient online will-writing service to our supporters. Bequeathed’s online service offers a simple, step-by-step process to write your will - and their help is completely free.

How it works

Create an account on the accessible Bequeathed website and make a start on your Will immediately with three easy steps:

Complete Bequeathed's online interview

The questions asked help gather all the information required to make your Will quickly. It takes approximately 20 minutes and their team is online to help.

Get advice from an accredited firm

When you've completed the interview, Bequeathed will arrange a 30 minute appointment with a legal firm. You can choose between a phone or video call, at your home or their office. The firm will discuss your situation and your wishes and confirm your Will fully caters to your needs.

Sign and witness your Will

After your appointment, the legal firm will send you your free Will. Just sign it in front of witnesses and return to the firm. They will check it has been executed correctly and securely store it for you, at no cost.

If your Will is more complicated and you need to pay for legal advice, if you wish, Bequeathed can transfer you to one of their accredited firms of solicitors. They can advise you by telephone or in person once you've agreed the fee. You're not charged for any time you spend answering the interview questions.

There is no obligation to include a gift to Sight Support HEY in your will when using this service, but we would of course be very grateful if you would consider supporting us in this way.

Gifts in wills are vital to our work supporting local people with sight loss, and enable us to invest in life changing eye health by funding innovative research, education and care to improve people’s sight.

Seeking further advice

If at any point in the process you need additional support or find that your estate and wishes are more complex than you anticipated, we can also offer signposting to local solicitors who can offer advice by telephone or in person once you have agreed a fee.

Using Bequeathed’s will-writing service is free, but if you seek additional advice from a local solicitor you may need to pay a fee.
