Alison Stannard : Chief Executive
Alison Stannard is the Chief Executive of Sight Support, bringing over 14 years of dedicated service to the organisation. Appointed as CEO in April 2024, Alison’s deep-rooted passion for supporting people with sight loss, combined with her extensive experience across a variety of roles within the charity, gives her a strong foundation to lead the team.
Throughout her time at Sight Support, Alison has developed an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by service users. Her hands-on experience has equipped her with unique insight and empathy, ensuring that the charity continues to place individuals at the heart of everything it does. Alison is committed to driving Sight Support forward—building on its strengths, embracing innovation, and working collaboratively to expand and enhance services. Gill joined Sight Support in 2011 working as a finance administrator with the Finance Manager. She has worked her way up to now be responsible for the whole finance function of the charity before being promoted to Finance & Facilities Manager in 2024. Within this role Gill is now responsible for looking after Beech Holme Court and the tenants. In her spare time Gill likes to watch professional snooker and goes to many matches.
Claire Balfour: Services Manager Claire joined Sight Support in May 2024, bringing with her valuable experience from the events industry. She is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our services, which include the Day Groups, SocialEYES, Telephone Befriending, Children and Families, and the Community Advice Departments. In her spare time, Claire enjoys attending concerts, walking her dog, and spending time with family and friends.
