Charity Concert Rescued
Sight Support Hull and East Yorkshire is excited to be celebrating its 160th anniversary in 2024. Since its inception in 1864, the charity has been at the forefront of providing invaluable support and services to the visually impaired community in Hull and East Yorkshire.
In celebration of this significant milestone, the charity planned to host a special concert on 7th June featuring performances from the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra and local X Factor contestant Samantha Atkinson in the wonderful surroundings of Hull Minster however the charity’s plans looked to be in ruins when they received a call out of the blue to inform them that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Samantha could no longer perform at the event.
As luck would have it, local singer Martin Jackson came to the rescue. Formerly part of the trio Tre Amici who took X Factor by storm, Martin is now a highly successful solo artist.
“As you can imagine, we were facing a huge gap in our plans for the evening,” explained Sight Support’s Chief Executive Alison Stannard. “And we knew it would be difficult to find a replacement at such short notice, so we were over the moon and incredibly grateful when Martin offered to come to our rescue and fit us into his busy schedule.
The charity is now looking forward to what will be a fabulous evening of musical entertainment to kick off its 160th anniversary celebrations.
Tickets are £16 and currently still available, although selling fast. Doors open 6.15pm and the concert starts 7pm.
