Driver Volunteer

Mobility is one of the biggest problems faced by people with visual impairments so our volunteer drivers play a critical role in helping us to deliver Sight Support’s services.

Responsibilities:

  • To transport service users to various venues and return them home safely.
  • To assist service users to safely access vehicles and venues.
  • To assist service users within venues.

Qualities and skills we are looking for:

  • At least 25 years old (for insurance purposes).
  • A valid C1 and D1 Driving licence and driving experience of at least
    2 years.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with good communication skills.
  • Reliability.
  • Visual Impairment Awareness training will be provided and take place at Sight Support HEY.
  • Other training as identified.
  • Regular newsletters, updates and news from the Volunteer Coordinator at Sight Support HEY.
  • Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses such as mileage or public transport costs (where pre-approved).

Support provided to you:
