Mobility is one of the biggest problems faced by people with visual impairments so our volunteer drivers play a critical role in helping us to deliver Sight Support’s services.
Responsibilities:
- To transport service users to various venues and return them home safely.
- To assist service users to safely access vehicles and venues.
- To assist service users within venues.
Qualities and skills we are looking for:
- At least 25 years old (for insurance purposes).
- A valid C1 and D1 Driving licence and driving experience of at least
2 years. - Friendly, outgoing personality with good communication skills.
- Reliability.
- Visual Impairment Awareness training will be provided and take place at Sight Support HEY.
- Other training as identified.
- Regular newsletters, updates and news from the Volunteer Coordinator at Sight Support HEY.
- Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses such as mileage or public transport costs (where pre-approved).
